Ммммма, щодо ФТ, то принаймні, початок покладено, тепер вони знову бика включили:

Dear Mr Kусhmа,

Thank you for your email.
I'm sorry to disappoint you, but that article in the Business Education section today did not signal a change in our style. It was an exception that slipped through the editing process.
We will keep this issue under consideration, but for the time being we continue - in common with Reuters, the NYT, the Economist and others - to use Kiev as our style.

With best regards,

Hugh Carnegy
Executive Editor

Ось, пишемо далі ФТ:

Dear Mr Carnegy,

Actual.ly, not long ago, in the last Special Christmas Edition The Economist has also "slipped" and wrote Kyiv:

http://www.economist.com/world/internat ... d=15108779

For your convenience I am attaching the original article.

You will find all big institutions changing to Kyiv on http://kyiv.of-cour.se/ - join the world leaders too and please do not slip on spelling of the capital of Ukraine.

Thank you very much indeed,

Mаrk Kусhmа

WSJ, Wall Street Journal, теж перейшов на Київ. Пишемо далі Економісту - вони вже я бачу самі сумніваються, бо аргументів по правопису то і не залишилося:

Dear Mr Peet,

For your information, in addition to the FT reference I sent you earlier, here is another proof that your colleagues at WSJ have now switched to Kyiv spelling too:

Hooray for more positive changes towards Ukraine.

Dear Mr Kусhmа,

Do you really think this is your country's biggest problem? I do wish your energy was deployed at making Ukraine more prosperous and better governed rather than bombarding The Economist and dozen other publications with letters about how to spell Ukraine's cities.

Sincerely,

Dear Mr Ostrovsky,

Ukrainians are very busy with fixing many things. The spelling of the capital is one of them. If you cover Ukraine as a journalist, you have to understand this. Else, why would thousands of people sign the petitions and keep on writing?

As I wrote your colleagues many times, all the arguments are for "Kyiv" spelling, which is recognised by all possible official institutions. Every bit is breif.ly listed on http://kyiv.of-cour.se/

I never understood why your paper that adopted Almaty, Belarus, Chisinau, Moldova, ... just suddenly decided to block on Kyiv. You are very welcome to explain this anomaly and actually join your other colleague-journalists and recognise the modern spelling of the capital of Ukraine. This will certainly do.

Sir,

I was confused by the issue of The Economist January 23rd 2010. On one hand you refer to the capital of Ukraine as Kiev, on the other hand you write it as Kyiv. See the corresponding page attached.

I propose your editors stop puzzling and misleading the readers and in the future issues, refer to the city using the spelling adopted worldwide - Kyiv.

I hope this tip helps The Economist to look solid. Thank you for your collaboration and understanding.

Цей пан Піт як зазомбований торочить лише одне, я буду писати Кієв і мені однаково як там інші інституції пишуть.

One is an advertisement placed by the IFC, the other is our normal editorial reporting. There is no connection at all between the two and our editorial policy, which is unchanged, is not affected by the spelling in advertisements. Nor should it be.

Dear John,

Why The Economist is not following IFC and others then? It is so obvious the name of the town is Kyiv, is it not?
